Love Will Set You Free
December 22, 2011 08:36 AM PST
The Love & The Music proudly presents 'Love Will Set You Free', just in time for the holiday season! This latest podcast starts slow, but picks up quickly with several anthems which helped me destroy the dance floors at the birthdays parties of some close friends this past fall season. Many thanks to Goga and Denis for hosting such epic and memorable events. Happy holidays everyone, wherever you may be celebrating, thanks for visiting this side of the world wide web! Look to the stars above you, whatever your heart is into, whoever you want to be, love will set you free. Track Listing | Artist | Title (Remix) 1] Charles Chaplin - Speech from the Great Dictator

As the fall season approaches here in Canada, there has been enough great weather to inspire one last summer mix. Be Where Your Feet Are is a phrase that has taken on more and more meaning to me over the summer months. If you are thinking about the past or the future, you are not present in the moment. This mix was designed as an uplifting backdrop for those moments when you are in the moment, keeping the past and future out of focus. As this podcast explores different musical styles, it's almost comforting to periodically return to the sound that you can relate to the most. This mix is what The Love & The Music is all about. Funky, lyrical, upbeat house music. Of course, thanks to our beautiful 21st Century technology and this thing called the internet, I've had the privileged opportunity to access the sounds of DJs across the globe at the click of a mouse. So, I'd like to take this time to thank the following Podomatic Podcasters for contributing to my DJ education and who have kept me following their creative works for the last several years: Phil Hewson: http://funkylondon.podomatic.com/

Welcome, to the third annual Summer Inspirations. The nights are getting shorter and colder, but it has been one hell of a summer here in Canada. This year's edition is a blend of funk, soul, jazz, and a hint of rap, reggae and disco. This summer has taken me across four of our beautiful provinces, introduced me to many new beautiful people, soaked me with sunshine and re-ignited my love for the bicycle, the right brain and my deepest roots. "If I am not for myself, who will be for me?

Ritz Mock Apple Pie for your ears! This mix was planned for awhile now and I finally found some time this weekend to record it! At the request of a 30's-style mix, this one goes out to my friend Pat. The cover art for this podcast comes from In Grid's Rivav remix of Vive Le Swing, which is where the inspiration for this mix originated. This upbeat mix steadily climbs, where it eventually meets up with the pure sound of Parov Stelar. Summer has hit Calgary in full force and the weather has been great. Summer vacation is fast approaching and I won't be able to post any new material until I return from the abyss in late August... Track Listing: Artist | Track (Remix) 1. Corduroy Mavericks - What Good Is Music (Wattie Green)

My DJing journey began three years ago (wow, has it been that long!?) in Newcastle, Australia where a buddy of mine convinced me to go halves on a set of Stanton turn tables - so I have to thank Marko for getting me hooked on this. I also got to thank Nash for making me listen to house music for about 6 weeks straight, that seemed to be the final knockout punch. Anywho, I recently listened to some of the old mixes we made during that time, and decided I had to bring those tunes back to life with some much improved mixing. These tracks are some of the bangin' house tunes from ~2007, which followed me wherever I went on my journey. I think I'm finally safe to say summer is almost here in Canada, and we are lovin' it! A perfect time to continue living the dream! Artist | Track (Remix) 1) Aloud - Sex & Sun Pt II

This mix was made for my girlfriend, a self-proclaimed rocker, as a nice compromise between rock and house (since I can't play the guitar!) I compiled all my favourite indie, alternative, pop, reggae, classic and oldies rock-turned-house tunes and blended them all together for this particular mix. The tracks below are the ones that made the cut, although I would have liked to include a few more (decided to keep it to within 74mins so it would fit on a CD). I find quality rock remixes very hard to come by, so if you have any to add - please drop me a line! Spring is around the corner here in Canada and we are anxiously awaiting the forthcoming heat of summer. The very best season for house! I had the pleasure of playing a set at a close friends New Years Eve party this year during cocktail hour. I also had one of my good friends visiting from Vancouver for the holidays and decided to use his guitar skills for the set. As such, this session features some background guitar, coupled with a sexy, smooth and funky lounge feeling on the turn tables. So a big thanks to my buddy Matt for adding some great live instrumentals on this one. Special thanks to Denis Plechkov for his contribution to this episode's cover. On July 12, 1979 at a major league baseball game in Chicago, a local rock radio station held a promotional event dubbed ‘Disco Demolition Night’. Teens were encouraged to bring down their disco records, which would be blown up on the field during the intermission of the double-header that evening. The event, which soon turned into a full out riot, unveiled a darker side to the disco-sucks movement. The “disco” records that many of the fans brought were not disco records at all. The underlying racial and sexual prejudice of the event was remarkably noticeable for anyone who cared to look at it. Disco never fully recovered from this event. But disco did not die; it retreated back to it's roots in the underground scene where it belongs. Whether we like it or not, house music as we know it today is the reincarnation of disco. This idea is far too simplistic, but no matter how you look at it, house and disco are the kind of music that makes you feel good. Recorded live, this months mix takes you on a funky, soulful journey with a disco twist. It is my peronal favourite to date, so I hope it has been worth the wait for everyone following this podcast while I adjust to all my new gear. Special thanks to Aslisu who brings her personal touch to this episode's cover. If the art has captured your eye, you can check out more of her work at either http://tarcinrengi.deviantart.com or http://tarcinrengidrawings.deviantart.com If you are diggin' the podcast, please make a small donation to my PayPal account which directly contributes to the bandwidth costs! Merci! Thanks for listening, any comments are greatly appreciated! Your friend & lover,

With the summer of 2010 coming to a quick end, this mix reflects on the last three months of fun in the sun. It has been a hectic summer for me personally, with lots of travel within Canada and the start of a new job; my apologies for the lack in new podcasts. Thanks to the continued support of this podcast, I have taken the plunge into buying new equipment. I'm looking forward to experimenting with lots of new music this fall, so keep your eye out for new mixes. Special thanks again to Patrick Latter for providing the cover art. You can check out more of his work at http://www.redbubble.com/people/pat1926. I will leave you with a message straight from the incredible Shambhala music festival in Salmo, British Columbia: "Never settle for less than you deserve... worst case scenario: AMAZING!!" 1. As promised, this last mix of 2009 is back to the basics of what this podcast is all about: funky lyrical house! It's been a crazy year and I'm looking forward to spending new years in Banff with some friends. Should be an epic way to kick off 2010. Special thanks to Taylor Kigar for the inspired cover art. You can check out more of her work at: http://taylorkigar.deviantart.com/ I wish all of you all the best over the holidays. Electric House is the final piece of the three-part fall house sessions. I decided to create a little variety with these mixes and it seemed to hit the spot. These mixes got the most downloads I've seen yet, so thanks to everyone who had a listen. I hope the last installment will not disappoint. It was certainly a challenge to mix. Less lyrics but more pump; a great mix to throw on at the gym! I'll be publishing one last mix before the new year. I'll be going back to the basics with the best of the best: Funky Lyrical House! 1- Sidney Samson: Riverside

From Argentina to Spain, from Mexico to Chile: Welcome to part II of the 2009 Fall Sessions, featuring Latin House. This is a compilation of the music that I’ve collected since my introduction to Salsa in Brisbane (of all places) last year. It's 17 uptempo tracks jammed into an hour long mix. So grab a partner; feel the rhythm, feel the beat. 1, 2, 3, 4…. 1. Butchered Beats: The Trumped Shall Sound

This is Part I of the 2009 Fall Sessions, a trilogy of podcasts with different directions. The weather is turning cold and life seems to be slowing down. A chillout mix seemed like the only sound to create. It's a blend of house, progressive, lounge, euphoria and even balearic. I wasn't really sure where I was going with it. But as my good friend J9 reminds me, they don't call it a mix for nothing. 1) Andy Duguid - Wasted feat. Leah

Fused with an excess of estrogen, this is dedicated to all the ladies out there. Seeing as they generally have more patience, this is the extended edition with tracks that are longer than what I normally mix. Hopefully everyone finds a song or two that speaks to you here. This mix concludes the 2009 summer house sessions. I'll be looking for new influences on the mixes to follow. I hope everyone enjoys the remaining rays of sun. For everyone in Australia, spring break is just around the corner! Found Inspiration. Moving Forward. 1. Warren Clarke ft Jonni Black vs. Shena: Bitch Is Back

Brought to you from Canada's unofficial capital. And a large part of me will agree with that statement. "In Toronto they get Krazy". Weekly festivals, concerts on the harbor, Carribana, vibrant and cultured downtown, hot summer nights and some serious house lighting up the nightlife. This mix is dedicated to the late, great, Michael Jackson. Through all the controversy, he is the undisputed king of pop and I don't think I'm exaggerating when I say his music touched everyone around the globe at one time or another. "Maybe now Michael, they'll leave you alone" 1. Redd Angel - Man In The Mirror (Michael Jackson Tribute)
Cover Art: Brandon Boyd Summer Inspirations

Here is the new, much anticipated follow-up mix after returning from Australia, just in time for the summer heat. As always, it is a compilation of the best new house and funk'd up classics. Lyrical. Vocal. And sure to keep you moving this summer. Enjoy! Jaybell ---Track Listing--- 1. Cevin Fisher & Loletta Holloway ft. Obama - You Got Me Burnin' Up (Triple D Mix)
